Marquee Poole
Coach Marquee Poole played basketball at an early age and his hard work payed off earning an athletic scholarship to play for St. Bonaventure. After a successful playing career, Coach Poole decided to invest his time developing the next generation of players, coaching youth basketball and conducting clinics.
Due to his successes, Coach Poole was named as the Assistant Basketball Coach at Hostos during the 2013-14 season. After a promotion sidelined him from coaching, Coach Poole made a speedy return and was named the Head Coach in the 2014-15 season. Coach Poole made an immediate impact leading the team to a Region XV Title and a 5th place finish in the NJCAA National Tournament. For his efforts, he was named "Coach of the Year" and received the "Sportsmanship" award as well.
Howie Harrison
Coach Howie Harrison, is an Assistant Men's Basketball Coach for Hostos Community College. Prior to joining staff he was the Assistant Men's Basketball and Assistant Women's Softball Coach at Emmanuel College. Coach Harrison served as an Assistant Athletic Director at the Bement School in Deerfield, Massachusetts. He spent over four years at Bement, Harrison at which time he held many coaching positions including, Head Boys Basketball Coach, Co-Head Softball Coach and Assistant Varsity Boys Lacrosse Coach.
Harrison graduated in 2001 from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Sports Management, Master's of Arts in Teaching Concentration: Mathematics from Relay Graduate School of Education (2014). Masters of Education: Educational Leadership from Columbia University, Teachers College. (2018) Advanced Certificate: School District Leader from Canisius College (2018). Harrison also attended Williston Northampton School, where he played varsity football, basketball, track and lacrosse.
Coach Harrison is served as the Physical Education Coordinator and Athletic Director at Smith Leadership Academy Charter Public School. He founded the Smith Leadership Academy sports program, which includes the girls' and boys' basketball teams, flag football team, track team and double-dutch team. In the 2005-2006, the boys' basketball team went undefeated in their first year and won the charter school basketball league championship. He served as a Physical Education Teacher, Athletic Director 6-8th Math Teacher and 8th Social studies teacher. He also served as Athletic Director He also founded the sports program at M.S. 421, which included the girls' and boys' basketball teams, flag football team, track team and Step team. From 2012-2014 the boys’ basketball team won back to back NYC middle school championships.
Currently Coach Harrison is the Supervisor of Physical Education and Health, Assistant Athletic Director for the Newburgh Enlarge City School District.
James "Speedy" Williams
James "Speedy" Williams is a world reknown professional basketball player. James hails from the Bronx, NY, where he attended Jr. High School 183. He is most notably known for he out sthanding play at the world famous Rucker Park where he is considered a "Rucker Park legend". He attended Morris High School in the Bronx. He played at Medgar Evers College where he averaged 26 points per game. James " Speedy" Williams later went on and played Professional Basketball with the Harlem Globetrotters and the Continental Basketball Association.[5] He played 10 seasons with the United States Basketball League and the Harlem Wizards respectively. James " Speedy Williams served as an advisor, and played a role in the film Above The Rim where he made his acting debut.
